There is so much pressure on people for what their future “should” hold. All through highschool they push for kids to go to college instead of talking about other options like entrepreneurship or going into trades. It seems like everyone wants to make six figures and climb the ladder in a corporate company just for a title. If you don’t follow the American dream of going to college, getting married and having kids, you are looked at differently. I just can’t get myself to think like that. I think life is what you make it and that’s the blessing about it all. You get to wake up every morning and decide what truly sets your soul on fire.
Some people work jobs making a ton of money but are miserable at their job. Some barely get by but spend everyday loving their life and job. It’s not all about the money to me. Yes, money makes the world go round but it’s how you choose to use it.
If people spent more time doing things that made them happy instead of settling for what’s “normal” I believe the world would be a better place. If you can find a career that allows you to pay the bills and do what you love, go for it! Take the chance even if it’s not “normal” and everyone thinks you will fail. I’d rather take the chance now then regret it when I’m sixty. Always remember that there are jobs hiring everyday. You are never too old to make a change and put yourself first. People think you should wait until you’re retired to travel but what if you don’t make it that far? I want to see new landscapes, meet new people, try new things, learn, grow, and have new experiences. So that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
